About Beaverton Oregon
Beaverton is a city in the state of Oregon, which is situated within the Washington County. The City of Beaverton is located around 7 miles from the western direction of the City of Portland, within the Tualatin River Valley. It has the distinction of being the 2nd biggest city in the Washington County and the 6th biggest city in the state of Oregon. Beaverton was included by Money Magazine in its list of 100 Best Places to Live among the smaller cities in the United States in the year 2010.
Early settlers of the future site of the City of Beaverton included the Hall family from Kentucky and the Denney family. In the year 1847, Lawrence Hall bought 640 acres of land here, and constructed a grist mill in close proximity to the present day Walker Road. Hall was shortly afterwards joined by Thomas Denney who went on to construct a sawmill in the year 1848. In the year 1860, the construction of a toll plank road connecting the City of Portland to Beaverton was completed over a trail that was known as the Canyon Road. After the termination of the United States Civil War, many more settlers moved into the region. In the year 1872, the City of Beaverton’s first post office was opened in a general store run by George Betts who also doubled up as the first postmaster for the community. In the year 1893, Beaverton was officially incorporated and had a population of 400.

Some of its most popular attractions include hiking trails, a paved biking trail and horseback riding trails. Its 3 miles biking trail runs along the Terwilliger Boulevard on the eastern edge of the park all the way to Lake Oswego.
